Where Do We See M2J In The Bible?

  • Mary of Bethany (Mark 14:3-9) :: broke her alabaster pot, her life savings, to lavish the perfume on Him. We too come seeking to bring extravagant devotion to touch His heart
  • King David (Psalm 27:4) :: was a very busy man. He was King over a vast territory, overall commander of a large army, constantly going to war, a husband of many wives with responsibility for even more children. In the middle of this demanding lifestyle, he "desired one thing," to gaze on the beauty of the Lord. It was his joy & his life's blood
  • The Shunammite Woman (2 Kings 4:8-10) :: persuaded her husband to set aside a small, simply furnished room on the roof, solely for the use of Elisha, the prophet, at times when he passed through their town. So we, also, seek to have places in the city, "simply furnished" where Jesus can come & be refreshed as we minister to Him
  • In The Tabernacle Under Moses (Deuteronomy 10:8) :: the Levites stood "before the Lord to minister & pronounce blessings in His name/."  The priests kept the fire burning on the alter continuously & made offerings mixed with incense as "an aroma pleasing to the Lord" (Levit 6:13, 15) Oftentimes, we are there not in great emotion but in faithful service
  • When Noah Came Out of The Ark & Saw The Utter Devastation On The Earth (Gen 8:18-22) :: He must have wanted to "fix it," but his first thought was to comfort the broken heart of God by building an altar & sacrificing burnt offerings. Not only was God comforted by the pleasing aroma, but He resolved to bless not curse man on earth from that day on until now. We too may never understand the spiritual repercussions of our devotion for our broken & rebellious world
