When Doing M2J...
We Give Him Our Undivided Attention
We come to be with Him, learn to enjoy sitting in His presence; gazing on Him, admiring Him, loving Him, delighting in Him.
Our Focus Is On Him
The layout of the room, facing forward, focusing on Him - the music, the words, Scriptures, art symbols - all are focused on Him, on His attributes, on what He has done.
We Have No Other Agenda
This is not a time to pray, to fellowship with each other, to read our Bibles, to seek His guidance or even His comfort and love. We are there for His pleasure. We are there to waste time on Him.
Training Our Hearts, Expressing With Our Bodies
We do not sing in this time. It is like being at the theater, our attention fully on the stage, focused on the Lamb of God, the Lion of Judah. We are training our hearts to make music to Him. We are expressing that love with our bodies as we stand or kneel, use the banners or lay on our faces before Him.
Intimacy
This is your own personal, intimate time with the Lord – just you & Him. Move out & find your own space to be with Him. He is the Lover & you are the Beloved.
Community
This worship is personal & yet is not private. We are doing this together. He is our bridegroom & we are the bride. We need each other as we focus on Him. This is a taste of heaven.
Discipline of Committed Time In A Busy World
We desire our lives to be an expression of unceasing prayer & worship. Without the help of certain disciplines, this remains a vague ideal, something that has romantic appeal but not at all realistic in our contemporary world.
We need something specific & concrete to create a context in which this kind of life of continuous worship is nurtured. Ministering to Jesus in a regular way provides this context. In the middle of all the other responsibilities that He has given us, we are taking specific time out to tell the Lord that we love Him, purely for who He is, not for anything we can get from Him or do for Him.
Cultivating A Lifestyle
We are rediscovering a rhythm of life where we "go into" the Lord & minister to Him & then "come out" to work, look after our families, reach out to others, etc. Our "going in" to him is vital to our "coming out". We are saying to the Lord that He is the center of our existence, the Source for the out-working of the rest of our lives.
